Register of Business Interests of the Governors of Wolvercote Primary School

Margaret Stevens, Chair of Governors,  Community Governor
I am a Professor of Economics at Oxford University. Earlier in my career I was a secondary school maths teacher and an advisory teacher for the use of computers in Oxfordshire schools. I have lived locally since 1988, and was a Parent Governor at Wolvercote when my children attended the school in the 1990s. I was elected Chair of Governors in September 2014.

Rob Whitty, Vice Chair, Parent Governor

I am a parent of three children in Wolvercote. Having grown up abroad, I have a postgraduate degree that reflects my background in international health development. I initially managed emergency aid projects abroad. As a practical and hands-on individual, I now co-run an Oxford based company that designs, builds, equips and develops health infrastructure capacity worldwide.

Lucy Young, Staff Governor
I joined the school in April 2015 and am currently Head of School. I have taught in schools in England and Singapore, and have experience working with all primary age groups. I was a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) for six years.

Jenny Knight, Community Governor
My career was in primary education as a teacher in Primary, First and Middle schools, in London and Oxfordshire. This has included Headship and Deputy Headship Roles. I have lived in the area for over twenty years and both my children attended Wolvercote School. Following my retirement from full time work, I have become a part time tutor with the Workers Education Association, teaching courses related to primary education. I am governor with responsibility for Special Educational Needs and Disability.

James McNicoll, Community Governor
I am an engineer, born and educated in Australia. Much of my career has involved managing very large projects for an international contractor. My experience also includes general management and MD roles in the UK and Holland. I have lived in North Oxford for the past thirteen years and my wife Kathryn was briefly at Wolvercote School in 1962. I am the current chair of the Finance and Resources Committee.

Rupert McNeile, Community Governor
I have either lived in or owned property in Wolvercote since 1972. Two of my children attended the school in the 1980s. I retired from teaching maths and ICT six years ago and I am still a SATS marker.

Felice Nassar, Parent Governor

I am an active member in the life of the school and have 3 children here. As a family we have also lived in Nazareth, Israel, where I was also a Board Member of a school for several years. In Israel, I managed a department of a large NGO that focused on health and environmental rights. I have a great interest in and drive for high quality and well-rounded education. My career has included positions in fundraising for charities and NGOs, together with business research and conferences. Currently I work for Oxford University.

Margaret Simon, Community Governor

Margaret Simon has lived in Wolvercote for 25 years.  She has recently retired as the manager of a GP practice in East Oxford.  Prior to this she spent a number of years working in fund-raising and development in the higher education sector, including for the universities of Birmingham and Oxford.  Earlier in her career she worked in arts marketing in Manchester and Oxford, and for the Arts Council. She is the Governor lead for safeguarding.
